DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (CENTRAL)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Head Office(Suva) and will report to the Unit Leader IT Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish procedures for performance monitoring and tuning, disk space management backup recovery and reorganization of databases;
- Establish the procedure for a Database Disaster Recovery Plan;
- Plans for increased capacity of Databases;
- Manage, monitor and maintains EFL’s application software such as Gentrack, Navision & PayGlobal;
- Compile standards on operations and maintenance procedures of the IT applications;
- Provide user support and training for administrative users of IT applications;
- Develop and enforce security guidelines for test, development and production database access;
- Performs quality control audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of data;
- Ensures data integrity issues are identified and proactively addressed;
- Ensures standards are met and the system is ready for test, development and production operation;
- Work with other IT staff to coordinate maintenance of the database with other databases, to ensure data and performance integration across multiple software applications;
- Monitor database activity and use, prepare monthly status report for Chief Information Officer (CIO), co-workers, etc;
- Provide technical advice to other SBAs;
- Consultation and cooperation with other peers to optimize IT systems;
- Investigate and evaluate development in IT systems;
- Implement IT strategies;
- Innovate methodologies for undertaking IT activities;
- Documentation of all work procedures relative to accountabilities;
- Endeavour to continuously bridge the benchmark gaps set out in the Balance scorecard;
- Ensure at all times that Health & Safety considerations in all facets of activities are of top priority;
- Carry out any other work as required by the Team Leader, Unit Leader or CIO.
Key Requirements:
- The candidate must have a Diploma in Computing Science/Information Systems or related field with a minimum of six years of relevant experience in Database Administration or a Degree in Computing Science/Information Systems or related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in Database Administration;
- Knowledge of all phases of systems development life cycle and various database technologies would be an added advantage including Professional Certifications such as MCDBA, MCITP.
