GRADUATE ENGINEER ELECTRICAL (CENTRAL)

The position will be based at the EFL’s Head Office in Suva and will report to the Unit Leader System Studies & Protection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with internal & external stakeholders and develop distribution network development, plans to meet future load growth and improve system reliability;
- Ensure preliminary design of rural distribution system extensions, system reinforcement and Urban supply are carried out within specified time period;
- Ensure preliminary and detailed estimates of material quantities, cost and labour are carried out within the Company’s requirements;
- Consultation & Cooperation with other peers to optimize power systems
- Innovate methodologies to meet accountabilities and introduce fit for purpose new technologies as appropriate
- Recommend appropriate technical parameters for project proposals and for system reinforcement/refurbishment
- Assist engineers in carrying out regular reviews of distribution network design standards and submit recommendations for improvement and standardization of designs
- Assist the procurement team in developing technical specifications for procurement of distribution network equipment
- Prepare regular and special technical reports as and when required;
- Ensure all safety procedures are observed and adhered to according to OHS requirements and the Authority’s safety policies and procedures;
- Ensure at all times that HS considerations in all facets of activities are of top priority
- Assist the Design and Planning team in carrying out its role diligently and efficiently
- Carry out any other duties assigned by immediate Unit Leader or General Manager System Planning and Control
Key Requirements:
- The candidate should have at least a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or higher qualification.
- Prior experience working in a design office is preferred.
- A valid Group two (2) (not provisional) driver’s license is mandatory.
- Good organization skills, problem-solving skills and team management skills are required.
- Must be a member of a professional Engineers Body.
