The positions will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Kinoya Depot, Suva and will report to the Construction Coordinator (Central).
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out First Aid and Pole top rescue when needed;
- Take out Permit To Work and Permit To Test on high voltage equipment, and ensure all completed PTW and PTT forms are returned to the National Control Centre promptly;
- Carry out switching on Low and High Voltage equipment;
- Supervise construction, operations, maintenance of Network grid including, but not limited to, overhead power lines, underground cables, transformers, switchgear, pillar boxes, underground link boxes, autoreclosers, poles, cross arms, line hardware, Aerial Bundled Conductors, fibre-optic cables;
- Supervise installation of oil and fuses inside HV switchgear;
- Ensure Construction Projects are completed within approved budget;
- Ensure Construction Projects are completed within allotted time;
- Ensure Construction Project materials are balanced and necessary reports done in a timely manner;
- Test underground earthing to required standards;
- Carry out Megger tests to determine insulation level and Polarisation Index of switchgear, transformers, cables, as well as earth resistance measurements;
- Carry out cable fault location;
- Carry out Standby Duties as required;
- Drive EFL vehicles when required, carry out appropriate vehicle checks and fill in vehicle mileage book;
- Prepare and submit Daily, Monthly and other Reports as required;
- Conduct monthly PPE, tool and equipment check and maintain records for audit;
- Conduct safety visits on work teams, identify safety gaps, promptly address with teams, and submit reports on the same;
- Conduct Counselling and Technical Training of staff;
- Report all breaches, accidents and incidents promptly to the designated supervisor and Health & Safety Officer, or Fleet Officer;
- Responsible for managing of personnel, Tools & equipment, test equipment and fleet in the Construction Section;
- Maintain Health & Safety legislative requirements of both EFL and Government. Promote safety by assisting in compiling and maintaining work procedures, and carry out work in compliance with the safe work procedures;
- Liaise and coordinate with other departments to ensure successful completion of work assignments;
- Live EFL values at all times;
- Maintain the highest standards of integrity.
- Perform other work-related duties consistent with the responsibilities assigned to the position.
Key Requirements:
- A Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution with at least three years’ experience in electrical power industry;
- Must have EFL Category A, B, C & F authorisation;
- A valid Group 2 “full” Driving License (Manual Transmission) is mandatory;
