VAC 10/22 - REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & LICENSING CO-ORDINATOR (CENTRAL)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Head Office, Suva and will report to Manager Regulatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper administration and enforcement of Electricity Act 2017, Electricity Regulations and wiring standards (AS/NZS 3000), EFL policies, by-laws and electrical installation procedures
  • Inspect, approve and certify electrical fittings, wiring and installation works for major industrial and commercial customers in line with current standards;
  • Approve and certify use of electrical appliances and equipment from suppliers in line with relevant approved standards, procedures and codes of practice in coordination with the Chief Inspector;
  • Preparing wireman’s license examination annually in consultation with Chief Inspection, Manager Regulatory & relevant stakeholders
  • Co-ordinate electrical wireman’s & electrical contractors license by assessing compliance with electrical licensing requirements under the Electricity Act for approval by the Chief Inspector
  • Monitor conduct of Registered Electrical Contractors to ensure fair and just service is provided to the public
  • Monitor & Analyze Electrical Contractor Performance through standards compliance and defects and prepare monthly reports on this
  • Continual monitoring & management of the Meter test Room operations to ensure compliance with Electricity Act requirements and achievement of KPI’s for meter testing;
  • Facilitate regular meetings with electrical contractors to discuss and address electrical wiring standards and updates;
  • Arrange and conduct occasional meetings with installation inspectors in the Western, Central & Northern regions to gauge electrical contractor performances and wiring standard works and ensure standardization
  • Inspect private installations connected to private generating plants (IPPs), including the generating plant irrespective of whether or not the generating plant is capable of feeding into the EFL grid (supply system) as required by the Chief Inspector to ensure general compliance to electrical wiring standards, rules and practice.
  • Inspect electricity supply systems: (generating, transmission, and distribution) as and when required by the Chief Inspector
  • Maintain Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requirements for both EFL and Fiji Legislation; Manager Regulatory or General Manager Customer Services from time to time.
  • Timely collation and preparation of reports (monthly, quarterly, six monthly & yearly) for relevant scorecard KPIs and relevant stakeholders including FCCC

Key Requirements:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 10 years wiring experience and Regulatory Compliance or Trade Certificate with over 20 years in the Wiring & Regulatory Compliance experience
  • Wireman’s license
  • Valid group 2 driving license
  • Minimum of ten (10) continuous years relevant wok experience in an electrical industry particularly in electrical/control wring and all types of electrical installation works
  • Sound knowledge of Electrical Standards & Electrical Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000 and their applications as well as the Electricity Act
  • Must be computer literate
