VAC 129/24 - PROJECT TECHNICIAN (CENTRAL)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Head Office, Suva and will report to the Manager Regulatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with Department of Energy (Ministry of Infrastructure) to ensure proper documentation is provided from customers for permit applications as per EFL requirements
  • Assist in preparation of tender documents, and tender evaluation for house wiring projects
  • Work with relevant Electrical Contractors to ensure all house wiring projects are carried out as per standard and in a timely manner
  • Regular Periodic inspection of house wiring projects for specific Rural Electrification schemes to ensure all requirements are met as per AS/NZS 3000:2018 wiring rules
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and updates on house wiring projects
  • Liaise with Customer Care, Network Design & Planning Teams on permit approvals &  processing for relevant customers
  • Co-ordinate progress Inspection with Installation Inspectors to ensure standards compliance while house wiring is carried out by contractors
  • Co-ordinate payment schedule for relevant electrical contractors in line with completion of work
  • Carry out Customer awareness on electrical safety and other important matters as the need arises.
  • Assist customers in filling out forms in relation to the application for permit when the need arises.
  • Any other duties that may be requested by Management of the Customer Services SBA.

Key Requirements:

  • A Trade Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution;
  • Valid Wireman’s License with more than 10 years of experience - preferably in wiring of domestic/commercial installations;
  • Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules, and its practical application;
  • Sound knowledge of Electricity Act 2017 and Electricity Regulations 2019;
  • Familiar with EFL Inspection & Connection Process, Procedures and Guidelines and practices;
  • A valid full group 2 (not provisional) Driving License is mandatory;
  • Skilled with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Administrative & frontline office skills/qualification, though not a requirement, would be an added advantage.
