VAC 79/25 - SWITCHING PROGRAMMER (WESTERN)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s National Control Center, Vuda and will report to the Switching Coordinator (West).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare switching programs to enable maintenance work is carried out in accordance with safety procedures at minimum costs and interruption.
  • Carry out analysis for release of Distribution network and generators.
  • Prepare and monitor annual maintenance plans for all generation and Network assets.
  • Prepare commissioning programs for all Generation, Network and Communication elements.
  • Audit Permit to work, Permit to Test, Reclose block permits and Vegetation permits.
  • Maintain maintenance performance and generate reports.
  • Should be prepared to undertake other studies in order to maintain Knowledge of current practices in System Control.
  • Prepare and generate Breakdown of HV Supply reports.
  • Carryout other duties as assigned by Switching Co-coordinator.
  • Analyze Breakdown of HV supply BOS reports, calculate, allocate and generate reports for verification from appropriate SBA’s.

Key Requirements:

  • A Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution with at least four (4) years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Good knowledge on Generation Planning Tool (GPT) Software.
  • Must be proficient in English and able to prepare technical reports.
  • Must have a thorough operational knowledge of power generation, transmission, distribution and its associate protection control equipment and SCADA.
  • Know and live EFL values with good communication, Inter personal and problem solving skills.
  • Should be prepared to undertake other studies /training on order to improve skills and knowledge of Generation Dispatch.
  • Computer literate - Software skills especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and ACCESS essential.
  • Must be a self- starter and work under minimum supervision.
  • Should possess a valid full group 2 (manual) Driving License.
