VAC 80/25 - NATIONAL CONTROL CO-ORDINATOR (WESTERN)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s National Control Center, Vuda and will report to the Team Leader Systems Operator (West).
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring accurate monitoring and efficient control of the power distribution network, supervise safety procedures in accordance with EFL safety regulations.
- Accountable for implementing proper system control practices and adopting standard operating rules when working on duty.
- Control the loading of generating sets over which he has direct control in order to ensure efficient operation of the units;
- Issue instructions to station operators by telephone or radio telephone for the production of energy and subsequent distribution on basis of load, equipment availability and inter connections with the other power stations within grid;
- Re-distribute load, direct switching and make other arrangements to maintain service in emergency situations;
- Keep and maintain records of normal and emergency operations performed during a period of duty;
- Perform calculations, tests, readings, adjusting of instruments and recording of observations to establish, regulate and/or optimize system performances as directed;
- Apply knowledge of technical theory and practice to recognize and solve problems arising in the course of his duties;
- Issue and cancel permits to work to Authorized EFL personnel;
- Prepare and supervise planned outages;
- Ensure that system and plant changes are recorded and preliminary drawing/amendments produced and forwarded to the drawing office;
- Prepare and submit regular, operational, fault, commissioning and special reports as and when required;
- Ensure all safety procedures are observed and adhered to, according to Company’s safety rules and procedures;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader Systems Operation.
Key Requirements:
- Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Electrical engineering and have at least seven (5) years of relevant industrial experience.
- Be computer literate and must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be proficient in English and able to prepare technical reports;
- Must have a thorough operational knowledge of power generation, transmission, distribution and its associate protection control equipment and SCADA;
- Know and live EFL values with good communication, Inter personal and problem solving skills;
- Should be prepared to undertake other studies /training on order to improve skills and knowledge
- Computer literate .Software skills especially in Microsoft Word, Excel and ACCESS essential;
- Must be a self- starter and work under minimum supervision.
VAC 81/25 - RENEWABLE ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN (WESTERN)
The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Sigatoka Power Station and will report to the Team Leader Butoni (West).
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all safety procedures in place are adhered to according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Company’s safety rules and procedures.
- Carry out assigned daily works plan for operation, repair and maintenance of power stations.
- Dismantling of electrical items and makes visual inspection as well as performance tests, using measuring instruments and apparatus.
- Determines types and degree of repair required, serviceability of parts and components or necessity for replacement.
- Re-assembling of engine components, doing additional fittings and adjustments and make final performance tests and adjustments.
- Ensure prudent inventory management and control of adequate gen-set and machine spares.
- Responsible for the stock items receiving, issuing, recording and transactions for power station store.
- Ensure all generation statistics and reports under his charge are compiled and delivered timely and accurately to Team Leader.
- Maintain amicable relations and manage contracts with landowners.
- Ensure security of renewable installations.
- Assist in the preparation of yearly maintenance plans for respective renewable generation assets and activities.
- Assist in continual improvement in operational activities for increased productivity, increased efficiency and a high standard of Asset management.
- Prepare check sheets for various inspection and maintenance carried out.
- Carry out work, inspect and test completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety work standards.
- Carry out the inspection, regulation and functioning of installed plants and equipment employed in power stations.
- Assist in the provision of on-the-job training of employees.
- Carry out regular team fire & evacuation drills.
- Carry out daily checks/monitoring of weir plants & instrumentation
- Report any change in power station system elements or plant and ensure drawing are amended.
- Check, control and account for all electrical items used.
- Maintain proper management of tools and Test Equipment used by Team.
- Maintain proper vehicle management and upkeep.
- Responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of Power Stations and depots.
- Assist the overall generation team when required, especially Thermal team.
- Required to be on general availability and roster duration away from base.
- Display EFL values and standards at all times.
- Carry out any other work as required by the Team Leader or Manager Renewable Generation.
Key Requirements:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution;
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in power generation;
- Having a valid wireman license would be an advantage.
- Computer literate.
- Must have a valid full group 2 (manual) driving license.
- Needs to be Physically fit, be an excellent planner and organizer;
- Able to demonstrate leadership qualities, good communication skills, team player, be able to meet deadlines, and to live the EFL Values at all times.
VAC 82/25 - GENERATION MECHANICAL FITTER (WESTERN)
The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Sigatoka Power Station and will report to the Team Leader Butoni (West).
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out assigned work plans for operation, repair and maintenance of EFL’s thermal generation sets;
- Assist the Technicians in prudent inventory management and control of adequate genset and machine spares;
- Assist in the continual improvement in Thermal operational activities for increased productivity, increased efficiency and a high standard of Asset management;
- Inspects and tests completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety work standards;
- Carry out the inspection, regulation and functioning of installed plants and equipment in the power station;
- Report any change in power station system elements or plant and ensure drawings are amended;
- Check, control and account for all mechanical items used and follow up in the replenishing of stock items;
- Ensure proper management of specialized tools and Test Equipment used by the Team;
- Overseeing of vehicle management and upkeep;
- Responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of the Power Station and depots;
- Ensure compliance to the EFL’s Safety rules and procedures;
- Carry out any other work as required by the Technicians or Team Leader Thermal Generation.
Key Requirements:
- A Trade Certificate in Fitting & Machining or Plant Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution.
- At least a minimum of five (5) years’ experience (with completion of Apprenticeship) in power generation or in a similar capacity.
- Must possess a valid (not provisional) driver’s license.
