VAC 39/24 - APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME SCADA TECHNICIAN - 3 POSITIONS (WESTERN)

The positions will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Navutu Depot, Lautoka and will report to the SCADA Engineer (Western).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Will always work under the supervision of a Competent and/or Authorised Technicians, Senior Technicians, Supervisors, and/or Engineers to inspect, replace, test, service, troubleshoot, and complete preventive maintenance tasks on all SCADA & Comms related Equipment, Systems, and/or Networks;
  • Under supervision and guidance he/she will always provide assistance in the use of test equipment, meters, and tools to check, test, troubleshoot and calibrate SCADA & Comms Equipment and System Operation;
  • Under supervision and guidance he/she shall exercise sound judgment, quality workmanship, and safety procedures to repair or maintain various SCADA & Communication Equipment, Systems, and/or Networks;
  • Under supervision and guidance, he/she shall assist in preparing purchase requests, compare pricing, order, and expedite needed parts, equipment, and/or materials;
  • Under supervision and guidance he/she shall assist the Team in maintaining accurate records, documentations, test descriptions and written reports including time, materials, and equipment used and be able to maintain parts and equipment inventories;
  • Under supervision and guidance he/she shall be able to utilizes or use computers and related applications to program and setup equipment for required operations;
  • Under supervision and guidance he/she shall be able to assist the Team to configure, maintain and monitor active SCADA & Comms Equipment, System, and Network;
  • Under supervision and guidance he/she shall be able to work efficiently and effectively within the Team and with all other Sections or Departments to achieve the most safe, economical, and satisfactory resolution to our SCADA & Comms Operations concerns;
  • Under supervision and guidance, he/she shall comply with the all EFL’s HSE rules, policies, regulations, and all other EFL Policies;
  • Under supervision and guidance he/she shall be able to perform all other related duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned and/or directed by the Competent/Authorised Technicians, Senior Technicians, Supervisors, and/or Engineers;
  • Under supervision and guidance, he/she shall provide assistance to Competent and/or Authorised personnel to assemble, inspect, determine damage, cause of damage and required parts and recommend methods of repair of SCADA & Communication equipment, systems, or networks;
  • Under supervision and guidance, he/she shall provide assistance in the storing, recording, and properly care for all Section’s Tools, Test Equipment, and Materials;
  • Under supervision and guidance, he/she shall be required to assist the Team in any after-hours, weekends, and/or emergency on-call schedule or breakdown;
  • Under supervision and guidance, he/she shall assist the Team in carrying out routine monthly maintenance for all SCADA & Comms related equipment, systems, and networks at all SCADA & Comms Sites.
  • Under supervision and guidance, he/she shall be able to carry out any other duties, task, and/or responsibilities assigned to him/her by the Senior Technicians, Supervisors, SCADA/Comms Engineers, Manager SCADA & Communications, and the General Manager Network.

Key Requirements:

  • Have successfully either completed and passed Fiji School Leaving Certificate or Fiji Seventh Form Examination with an aggregate mark of 250+ and high level of achievement in English, Mathematics and Science (Physics);
  • Be physically and medically fit;
  • Applicants between 18 – 26 years of age at the time of application will have an added advantage;
  • Capable of successfully completing theoretical course;
  • Capable of handling the practical training requirements;
  • Valid Group 2 Driving License will be an added advantage;
  • Apprentices requirement is based on skilled manpower required by the relevant SBAs;
  • Applicants in the process or have completed a Trade Certificate or Certificate IV in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Engineering qualification with a GPA of 3.0 and above;
  • The Apprentice will be required to sign a Bond with EFL.
