VAC 71/24 - CIVIL ENGINEER (CENTRAL)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Head Office, Suva and will report to the Manager Civil.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide design review support for civil engineering related projects and supervision of construction and maintenance works;
- Preparing and evaluating tenders, specifications and submissions, at times with various stakeholders including Project Consultants;
- Provide project administration and project engineering support;
- Perform a site engineer’s role in delivery of power supply infrastructure development projects, from concept formulation to commissioning.
- Assist in assessment of completed works against agreed schedules, verification of quantities against contractors and consultants claims and prepare payment certificates in accordance with agreed contract terms and conditions;
- Assist in inspection, witness of testing and provide coordination for commissioning of completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and adopted work standards related to building and civil engineering;
- Conduct on site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and others);
- Assess potential risks that may arise during the project execution, materials and costs estimations;
- Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies;
- Monitoring and optimizing safety procedures, production processes, and regulatory compliance;
- Project management duties (e.g. managing budgets, resources, and deadlines; acquiring and compiling quotes, etc.);
- Confidently liaising with clients and other professional subcontractors;
- Endeavour to continually bridge the benchmark gaps as set out in the scorecard
- Ensure at all times that HSE considerations in all facets of activities are of top priority
- Be able to travel widely around all EFL installations including project sites. Must have the ability to be away from base station for project durations.
- Carry out any other delegated duties assigned by Manager Civil or General Manager Special Projects.
Key Requirements:
- A Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University with at least three (3) years relevant civil engineering work experience. Comprehensive experience in Project Management and implementation of Civil Projects will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken);
- Must be familiar with local Statuary laws;
- Must be a Member of a Professional Engineering body;
- Must continuously live the EFL values and maintain the EFL image at all times;
- A valid Group 2 (not provisional) Driving License is mandatory.
