The position of Meter Technician is based at the Authority’s Kinoya Depot and will report directly to Regulatory Compliance & Licensing Coordinator.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Test various types of energy meters with the use of electronic test bench;
  • Supervise meter test electricians in carrying out meter tests;
  • Update meter test records in log book;
  • Repair and adjust meters to comply to statutory requirements;
  • Prepare regular and special reports (typed) on various types of tested meters and submit as and when required;
  • Provide guidance, training & assessment of apprentices, trainees and electricians under his control;
  • Attend to customer faults within satisfactory response time & provide timely feedback ;
  • Calculate maximum demand;
  • Ensure safety compliance and risk mitigation to public and crew during all activities and tasks;
  • Remain current & up to date with all metering systems and safety practices;
  • Provide clarifications and advice to customers as and when needed;
  • Be available for after-hours standby operations as and when required;
  • Replace electricity meters and associated metering equipment as and when required;
  • Assist Regulatory Inspection Teams on customer inspections, testing and faults;
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by functional superiors and provide timely feedback;
  • Assist other SBAs where relevant as & when required.

 KEY REQUIREMENTS

  •  Minimum Qualification of Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering with 5 years electrical wiring experience;
  • Valid Wireman’s license;
  • Computer literacy and competence in MS Office Programs;
  • Driving license would be an advantage.

The positions will be offered on a three (3) year contract basis.
