The position of Transmission Engineer Projects is based at the Authority’s Navutu Depot and will report directly to Unit Leader Transmission.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Plan and execute projects on the Authority’s Transmission and Sub-transmission network;
  • Manage project timelines and budgets;
  • Plan the phasing and execution of the Transmission Asset Refurbishment Works as part of the Monasavu Hydro Electric Scheme’s Half Life Refurbishment Project;
  • Create equipment specifications for tendering and procuring specialized transmission equipment, evaluating tender proposals and preparing equipment purchase recommendations in compliance with relevant IEC, IEEE, and AS/NZS International Standards;
  • Develop written procedures and establish the means and methods for executing the project, including EFL and contractor risk assessments;
  • Spearhead the production of design documents and construction drawings in AutoCAD as required for outlining the scope of works and to convey requirements for carrying out the execution of the projects;
  • Provide the necessary due diligence, project management/administration for multiple In-House and Turnkey Projects to execute works on the FEA’s 132kV & 33kV Transmission Assets;
  • Identification of transmission network constraints and conducting system studies and feasibility studies to propose solutions for improving transmission network adequacy and performance, in the form of initiating network augmentation projects;
  • Ensure all Network SBA and Corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are accomplished as per plan;
  • Ensure compliance with FEA’s policies and protocols during the execution of in-house and turnkey projects;
  • Maintain HSE legislative requirements of both EFL and Government. Promote safety by assisting in compiling and maintaining work procedures, and carry out work in compliance with the safe work procedures. Carry out Safety Visits;
  • Perform other work related duties consistent with the responsibilities assigned to the position.

 KEY REQUIREMENTS

  •  Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution and membership or eligibility for membership of a recognized Professional Institution;
  • Must have 3 years post qualification experience in the electric power industry of which a minimum 1 year should have been spent in power distribution/transmission. Must have a valid driving license and be authorized in Categories A, B, C, F of High Voltage switching.

The positions will be offered on a three (3) year contract basis.
