VAC 54/24 - GENERATION ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN (WESTERN)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Monosavu and will report to the Team Leader Renewable Generation Wailoa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all safety procedures in place are adhere to according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Authority’s Safety rules and procedures.
  • Carry out daily, weekly & monthly monitoring on dam instrumentations and work with dam experts in analyzing of data.
  • Carry out daily weather station readings as to Fiji Meteorological Service standard, recording to appropriate forms and forwarding data to respective stakeholders.
  • Carry out daily checks on operation of Wainikasou power station including its water reservoir & Wainisavulevu dam.
  • Carry out basic maintenance of weather station equipment
  • Carry out regular maintenance for dam instrumentations, e.g. hydraulic piezometer flushing.
  • Carry out servicing/maintenance of water weirs.
  • Determines types and degree of repair required, serviceability of parts and components or necessity for replacement.
  • Attending to faults at Wainikasou power station.
  • Assist Wailoa team in the maintenance work at Wainikasou power station.
  • Ensure prudent inventory management and control of spare parts.
  • Responsible for the stock items receiving, issuing, recording and transactions for Monasavu.
  • Manage and control of vehicle fuel stock at site.
  • Ensure all generation statistics and reports under his charge are compile and deliver timely and accurately to Team Leader.
  • Maintain amicable relations and manage contracts with landowners & contractors.
  • Ensure security of installations.
  • Assist in the preparation of yearly maintenance plans for all generation assets and activities.
  • Assist in continual improvement in operational activities for increased productivity, increased efficiency and a high standard of Asset management.
  • Prepare check sheets for various inspection and maintenance carried out.
  • Assist in the provision of on-the-job training of employees.
  • Carry out regular team fire & evacuation drills.
  • Report any change in system elements or plant and ensure drawing are amend.
  • Check, control and account for all items used.
  • Maintain proper management of Tools and Test Equipment used by Team.
  • Maintain proper vehicle management and upkeep.
  • Responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of Power Stations and Depots.
  • Assist the overall generation team when required.
  • Required to be on general availability and roster duration away from base.
  • Carry out any other work as required by the Team Leader or Manager Renewable Generation.
  • Display EFL values and standards at all times.

Key Requirements

  • A Diploma in Mechanical/Plant Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering from a recognized Tertiary Institution;
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in power generation;
  • Experience in hydro operation & maintenance would be an advantage;
  • Must be a computer literate;
  • Having a valid Wireman License would be an advantage;
  • A valid full Group two (2) Manual Driving License (not provisional) is mandatory;
  • Needs to be Physically fit, be an excellent Planner and organizer; demonstrate leadership qualities, good communication skills, team player, be able to meet deadlines, and to live the EFL Values at all times.
