VAC 121/24 - WAYLEAVE OFFICER (CENTRAL)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Head Office, Suva and will report to the Manager Land Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquisition of leases and purchase of land to ensure effective and timely implementation of EFL projects;
  • Carry out property market analysis and provide professional opinion on land lease and purchase of land offers, rent reassessment of ground lease rent, fair and equitable rate for wayleave agreements;
  • Provide full wayleave support for the installation of new overhead line and underground cable routes;
  • Resolve land disputes and associated operational issues within the context of Fiji Land Laws and associated regulations;
  • Consult with relevant statutory bodies and authorities to obtain necessary assents and consents for all EFL projects/schemes;
  • Develop good relations and provide excellent standards of service to internal and external customers;
  • Ensure all land titles, land files are safely and well-kept and readily accessible;
  • Monitor and administer EFL’s lease rent payments, rent reassessments and lease renewal are processed in a timely manner;
  • Follow and align all required task according to Land Operational Manual in place;
  • Carry out administration functions of the Unit’s operational activities;
  • Be an excellent ambassador for EFL – continually promote EFL values and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures;
  • Prepare and submit the timely and quality updates to Manager Land Affairs on a monthly basis;
  • Represent EFL to Landowner’s consultation, District and Provincial meetings when required;
  • Carry out any other work as assigned by Manager Land Affairs or General Manager Special Projects.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Land Management/or Real Estate Management or equivalent;
  • At least 7 years doing similar work in another organization;
  • The successful applicant must be a self-starter, be able to work independently, demonstrate professionalism and courtesy and demonstrate external and internal customer services;
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan and meet deadlines;
  • Have comprehensive understanding of the Fiji Land Tenure System with its associated Legislation and key stakeholder’s requirements;
  • Have negotiation skills that is adequate to achieve the desired results without comprising the interest of EFL;
  • Experience in land management and lease administration;
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal communication, report writing and presentation skills;
  • Be able to live the EFL Values is a must for this position;
  • The role requires someone who is an excellent communicator and has a working knowledge of Fijian customs and traditions.
