VAC 42/25 - GRADUATE CIVIL ENGINEER (WESTERN)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Navutu Depot, Lautoka and will report to the Manager Civil.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide design review support for civil related projects and supervision of construction and maintenance works;
- Design of various infrastructure projects in accordance with design briefs and directions, applying best practice design principles and standards;
- Preparing and evaluating tenders, specifications and submissions, at times with Project Consultants;
- Provide project administration and reporting;
- Prepare cost estimates and specifications supporting designs, appropriate for procurement and tendering purposes,
- Prepare documentation including project plans, Gantt charts and specifications for minor/Major projects;
- Perform a site engineer’s role in delivery of power development projects, from concept to commissioning;
- Assist in assessment of completed works against agreed schedules, verification of quantities against contractors and consultants claims and prepare payment certificates in accordance with agreed contract terms and conditions;
- Assist in inspection, witness of testing and provide coordination for commissioning of completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and adopted work standards related to building and civil engineering;
- Assist with enquiries, requests and complaints from external customers and internal staff, providing accurate information and arrange suitable action as necessary;
- Conduct any liaison or consultation with statutory authorities or undertakers as necessary to implement the construction of the project;
- Be able to travel widely around all EFL installations including project sites. Must have the ability to be away from base station for project durations;
- Maintain compliance to Occupational Health and Safety systems on site and for all department works;
- Any other duties as assigned by Manager Civil Engineering and General Manager Special Projects.
Key Requirements:
- A Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized University.
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken).
- Must be a member or be eligible to become a member of a Professional Engineering body
- Formal training in Project Management preferred
- A valid (not provisional) driving license.
- Must continuously live the EFL values and maintain the EFL image at all times.
