VAC 66/25 - ASSISTANT MANAGER INTERNAL AUDIT (CENTRAL)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Head Office, Suva and will report to the Manager Internal Audit.
Key Responsibilities:
Internal Audit Operations and Budget
- Assist in the development and/or execution of the Annual Audit Plan, department budget, audit training requirements, and innovation initiatives.
- Assist in the review of the audit working papers and ensuring that they are properly filed before submission to the Manager Internal Audit or Executive Management for review.
- Oversee the work performed by the Auditors and resolving issues that fall outside of normal procedures.
- Review and submit the audit report to the Manager Internal Audit for final review.
- Plan follow up audits and ensure that these are conducted in a timely manner and corrective actions are implemented to improve processes.
- Conduct discussions with the Department Heads and agree on the Audit issues, impacts, causes and recommendations of the audit report prior to finalization.
Report and Corrective Actions
- Assist in aligning the Internal Audit (IA) strategy with the organization’s strategy.
- Assist in assessing the strategic and business risks to Energy Fiji Limited and ensure that the risks are embedded in the audit testing.
- Decide how best to schedule audits/projects, allocate audit resources, and improve audit processes/procedures.
- Develop the Audit scope prior to each audit, supervising field-work, preparing audit reports reflecting the results of the work performed and ensuring that it is in accordance to the Institute of Internal Auditors Standards (IIAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Assist in the preparation of the audit report for the Executive Management and to the Board Audit & Finance Sub-committee (AFSC) on audit results.
Audit Processes, Review, and Compliance
- Manage the application of the governance, risk and compliance frameworks in Audit activities.
- Define and re-engineer the processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency of processes.
- Take a full role in any ad hoc tasks or projects required to meet departmental objectives.
- Manage special investigations as and when required by the Executive Management.
- Support continuous improvement of the Internal Audit activity.
- Perform all the duties of Manager Internal Audit in his/her absence.
- Carry out any other work as delegated by the Manager Internal Audit.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and other required applications (e.g., Adobe Acrobat).
Key Requirements:
- A Degree in Accounting from a recognized Institution with at least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
- Must be a member of a professional institute of Accountants and must be detailed oriented with excellent analytical skills.
- A valid Group 2 (not provisional) driver’s license is mandatory.
