VAC 67/25 – MANAGER SOLAR DEVELOPMENTS (WESTERN)

The position will be based at the Energy Fiji Limited’s Navutu Depot, Lautoka and will report to the General Manager Special Projects.
Key Requirements
- Manage the development, delivery and continuous improvement of all solar power engineering functions,
- Preparation of technical deliverables (including project resource plans, design briefs, engineering scope, concept & detailed designs, technical investigations, development application documentation, contract technical specifications) for solar power plant projects and their connection to the EFL grid;
- Contribute to the development of project budgets, scope and objectives, project management and resource plans;
- In collaboration with management, define resource requirements and effectively procure, mobilise, manage and lead the team to achieve project deliverables and manage defects post practical completion;
- Production of project design deliverables and lead & manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers & para-professionals including external service providers
- Proactively manage budgets to ensure activities and investments meet the organization’s financial objectives;
- Proactively identify and implement changes to achieve cost efficiency, whilst pursuing revenue opportunities to position EFL for innovation and growth;
- Understand the processes which derive the financial results and ensure suitable controls are in place to ensure ongoing resilience and reliability in achieving business outcomes;
- Create and develop a respectful workplace environment that values diversity, innovation, open discussion, cross functional collaboration and drives high performance;

- Lead the development, review, maintenance, implementation and evaluation of the operational plans, policies, procedures and frameworks that govern the business function;
- Ensure the development, monitoring, analysis and reporting of relevant performance metrics for the function, with value-adding commentary and insight, to demonstrate the extent of success in meeting organizational performance and/or improvement targets;
- Consult with relevant stakeholders to balance between technical design solution with commercial feasibility and risks;
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Asset Engineering Management System;
- Measure engineering and design performance using appropriate tools and techniques to monitor performance and report and escalate to Executive Management team as needed;
- Report on progress of deliverables, including identifying and resolving upcoming issues which may cause delays to commitments;
- Manage allocated project implementation risks within the delegated Engineering Authority framework;
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the Asset Design manuals and templates;
- Participate in the Technical Committees for regular policy and manuals reviews; Ensure all proposed work complies with EFL' policies and procedures and applicable laws and standards;
- Carry out the role in a professional and ethical manner and in accordance with EFL's values, Code of Conduct and other policies, lead by example; demonstrate personal accountability for self-development and for achieving quality and timely results. And be an EFL brand ambassador;
- Undertake other duties commensurate with skills and classification level, as directed by General Manager Special Projects or Chief Executive Officer;
- Notify relevant Executives of any significant matters and/or incidents as they arise.
Key Requirements:
- A Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least seven (7) years of experience in engineering and managing large infrastructure projects; or Candidate should hold a Masters in Electrical Engineering with at least five (5) years of experience in managing significantly large infrastructure projects.
- Past experience in development of grid-connected utility scale solar power plant is necessary
- Demonstrated capacity to manage human and other resources to achieve identified outcomes.
- Good planning, organisational, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to produce high quality work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of computer systems including familiarity with MS Suite of Projects
- Proficient in MS Project and Project Tracking Tool/Software
- Demonstrated knowledge in AS/NZS relevant to solar power systems
- Ability to work with municipal councils, Governments/ Government instrumentalities, private sector, professional bodies, community groups/ community, kindred organisations and industrial bodies
- Extensive experience in preparing detailed estimates for projects.
- Well-developed communication skills
- A demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Formal training in FIDIC Suite of Contracts
- Must be a member of a Professional Engineering body
- A valid (not provisional) driving license.
- Must continuously live the EFL values and maintain the EFL image at all times
